JV Basketball this year was........so many things. Long. Why is the basketball so long? An Education. Yes, education. Our team went from a team that had three individuals that kind of knew how to play last year, to 10 girls that worked well as a team. Roller Coaster. I felt like we won so many games this season, but when I looked at our record I was shocked. We ended the season 10-16. But we didn't count this season as a loss. We won in different ways. We won in quarters. I know you are probably saying that it doesn't make sense, but it does. Many games we came from huge 1st quarter deficits ex 22-2. That happened a few times. But when the score at halftime was 26-18 that was a win. We outscored our opponents and kept them within a reasonable range. That was a win. Most of our games were like that.
We learned more plays, better plays and we learned how to execute those plays. Sounds easy if you are a basketball player, but most of our team had our early basketball starts shut down by Covid. Most of us had a partial 7th grade season, no 8th grade season and a disappointing freshman season. So we are part of the kids that have some of their sports seasons defined by Covid. It is what it is.
Below are just a few pictures from our season - most of them taken by Enrique Farfan. Enjoy!
